Joey Votto Quietly Making a 2019 Fantasy Baseball Rebound

Three signs you know the summer has begun – sunshine in the sky, BBQ on the grill and Joey Votto turning his season around.
Yup, as has been the case throughout his career, the future Hall-of-Fame first baseman is a bit of a late bloomer. Things seemed especially dire this season, as Votto slumped to hit .233 in April, and didn't improve much in May. Entering June, he was sitting on just four home runs and 11 RBI, startling numbers even by his slow-start standards.

Lately though, Votto's bat has started to wake up. Since May 17, spanning 30 games, Votto is sporting a batting line of .327/.403/.509. The power has yet to really pick up, but the hitting is more in line with his career mark of .309/.424/.525.
So far in June, Votto is starting to correct his normally sparking strikeout-to-walk ratio, as he currently has 19 Ks to 12 free passes on the month. If Votto can continue improvement regarding his patience and batting eye, the home runs will surely follow as we enter the dog days of summer.

Still, while the underlying numbers are on the way up, Votto's low home run total of eight may be enough to frustrate owners into dealing the first baseman. Now may be the time to pounce with a trade offer, especially in OBP leagues where Votto can literally carry you in the category.
That being said, Votto is a great buy-low option for fantasy owners looking for a boost in batting average, OBP and even runs and RBI.
