As the MLB's trade deadline looms in July, a number of struggling teams are coming to terms with potentially dealing some of their best players. That rings true for the Texas Rangers and slugger Joey Gallo.

The rumors continue to fly around MLB circles surrounding Gallo being dealt by the deadline. Naturally, he's due for his third and final year of arbitration after this season and then unrestricted free agency the next. Not to mention, the Rangers are struggling to rebuild with a 26-46 overall record and Gallo's power hitting could attract some great trade pieces this summer.

But, fortunately for Rangers fans, Gallo is insisting that money won't be a roadblock in him staying home in Texas. Gallo spoke with reporters late last week and his contract extension comments will have Rangers fans beaming.

Joey Gallo Rumors

“I haven’t even talked about money,” Gallo said. “Everybody keeps talking about money. It’s not money. I never want money. I want to be here, and I want to be here with a team that values me. Money is money. We can figure that out.”

For Gallo, money isn't part of the equation. He even doubles down, saying that he wants to stay in Texas and be with a team that "values him." Now, these comments could be seen as Gallo just doing right by his current club. It's hard to imagine he wouldn't mind going to play for another MLB team competing for a World Series this season.

After all, Gallo has spent seven seasons in Texas and has only seen two playoff appearances in that span. He's a "light-tower power" type of hitter and from the left side will surely be a hot commodity at the trade deadline. Through seven MLB seasons, Gallo owns a .210/.334/.486 slash line, but averages 40 home runs and 88 RBIs across 162 games.

To add to the situation, the Rangers own just +50000 odds to win the World Series, according to the latest MLB odds on FanDuel Sportsbook. These odds are tied for the worst in the league and prove the Rangers likely won't be competing for championships any time soon, even if Gallo decided to stay in Texas.
