Texas A&M cornerback Jaylon Jones is eligible for the 2023 NFL Draft following his standout college career. A first-team All-American out of high school, he was heavily recruited and eventually landed with the Aggies at Texas A&M. Jones saw instant action as a freshman and saw his playing time only increase from there and now sits as a prime candidate to be selected in this year's draft.

Jaylon Jones Scouting Report

Jones was a Texas high school star and that helped land him in College Station. He contributed instantly as a freshman, recording 29 tackles with 4 pass breakups and one interception. His playing time increased through his junior year, and ended his college career with three interceptions in total, to go along with 11 pass breakups.

Jones has the size and strength to compete with NFL wideouts, which also provides him the ability to be a factor in the run defense as a tackler. He has good ball skills and can go up and defend 50-50 balls because of his height and vertical. His speed and long arms give him the potential to be a great deep-ball defender as well.

Jones is far from a perfect prospect, though. His production and coverage didn't really become great until his final season and has had the propensity to get turned around in coverage at times because of poor mechanics, something he will need to fix if he hopes to be a true No. 1 corner at the next level on the outside.

Jaylon Jones NFL Draft Prediction

The Cincinnati Bengals ranked No. 26 in the NFL in pass defense in 2022. Yet, they head into 2023 still needing additional help in the secondary. Safety will surely be something they address in the draft at some point, but cornerback is probably high up on their wishlist as well.

Jones provides a big body that can guard opposing tall wideouts, but also the ability to offer support in the run game playing in the hard-nosed AFC North, a division where their opponents' offenses are built on a rushing foundation.

Jones projections are all over the board, but if he's still sitting there for the Bengals in Round 5, he would be a great pickup.

Prediction: Cincinnati Bengals (Round 5, 163 overall)
