The Carolin Panthers' selection of Jaycee Horn in the NFL Draft confused some, but after a perfect preseason and a fantastic start to his 2021 rookie season, Horn and the Panthers are proving the doubters wrong in a big way.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like the oddsmakers have caught on quite yet. Horn opened the season at +1500 odds to win the 2021 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Award and while those odds have improved and now sit at +1000, that movement doesn't equate to how well he's played.

Through two games, Horn has helped make the Panthers arguably the best defense in football. In 71 snaps he has only allowed 2 catches and a 50.4 passer rating. He also has a INT and TD to go along with it. Simply put, he's making plays all over the field.

Horn's +1000 odds has him tied for fourth in the rankings, according to the latest NFL odds on FanDuel Sportsbook. That still ranks behind Micah Parsons (+400), Patrick Surtain II (+400), Jamin Davis (+700) and is tied with Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah.

While it's still early, if Horn continues this level of play, it's hard to imagine him not skyrocketing up in the odds, especially if the Panthers defense continues to be an elite unit.
