More injury news came this week for the New York Jets wide receiver corps, a group that has been decimated by injuries all of training camp. Slot receiver Jamison Crowder will miss Week 2 against the San Francisco 49ers, which could open the door for tight end Chris Herndon to have a big game.
Chris Herndon Fantasy Outlook
Not only is Crowder probably Sam Darnold's most trusted wide receiver, but he is the player the Jets quarterback targets the most. The slot WR was targeted 13 times in Week 1.
Herndon was clearly Darnold's second-favorite weapon, though. His 7 targets were the second most on the team and he caught 6 passes in Week 1.
The tight end definitely has more value in PPR formats with the high volume of targets he should receive, but either way he will be a sneaky sleeper this week.
The San Francisco 49ers' defense is still one of the league's best, but the secondary is pretty banged up right now. Combining that with the volume Herndon can expect to see makes him a great target in Week 2.
