James Jones Has Shocking Take on Best QB in 2021 NFL Draft

When it comes to the 2021 NFL Draft, it's no secret that the first round is expected to be loaded with talent. It's already a foregone conclusion that the Jacksonville Jaguars will take Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence with the No. 1 pick as he's projected to be the most talented quarterback available.

However, even if it's widely believed that Lawrence could be the best quarterback in the draft, it's not guaranteed that he will be. Former Green Bay Packers WR James Jones seems to think that there's another quarterback in the draft that could wind up being top of his class. Jones made an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday to discuss the upcoming draft. While on the show, he said that he thinks BYU QB Zach Wilson will end up being the best at his position.

In all honesty, it wouldn't be a stretch of the imagination for Zach Wilson to wind up being the best quarterback drafted this year. He improved in each of his three seasons with the BYU Cougars. With his college career wrapped up, Wilson finished with 7,652 passing yards while recording 56 touchdowns to 15 interceptions. He is currently projected to be drafted at No. 2 by the New York Jets.

If the Jets do select Wilson and want him to be the best quarterback in the draft, they're going to need to give him a better chance at success than they did for Sam Darnold. The former Jets QB was sacked 98 times during his time with the organization. The Jets also didn't surround Darnold with very good weapons, so it's unsurprising that he struggled with the team.

Either way, nobody will know for sure who the best quarterback in the draft is until their careers are well underway. It could be Lawrence. It could be Wilson. It could even be someone that nobody is thinking of in a later round. Nevertheless, it's that kind of unpredictability that makes the draft day experience that much more fun.
