James Conner Fantasy Outlook Threatened by Chase Edmonds Injury Update for Week 15
By Larry Rupp
It's no secret that Arizona Cardinals' running back James Conner has been a dominant force out of the backfield this season. He ranks as the No. 6 RB in PPR scoring leagues, but his Week 15 fantasy outlook is being threatened by the expected return of Chase Edmonds on Sunday afternoon.
Chase Edmonds Injury Update
Edmonds has not been on the field since Week 9 after he suffered an ankle injury that limited his ability to put any weight into his bursts and cuts. However, he was able to practice in limited fashion this past week and head coach Kliff Kingsbury remains optimistic that the fourth-year pro will suit up.
James Conner Fantasy Outlook
While this doesn't completely foil Conner's fantasy outlook in Week 15, it certainly puts a damper on it. Kingsbury has been adamant that the team would like to lessen Conner's workload in order to keep him ready for the playoffs. After all, he has played in over 90% of the offensive snaps over the last two weeks.
Edmonds averages 5.7 yards per carry this season and is sure to cut into the amount of touches Conner sees. The only thing truly separating these two from a fantasy football perspective is Conner's ability to get into the end zone. The former Pittsburgh standout has scored at least 1 touchdown in 10 of his last 11 games.
Fantasy managers are still going to start Conner on Sunday as he draws a great matchup and has done nothing to disappoint them up to this point. It'd be smart to temper expectations, though. Conner checks in at RB18 in The Duel's Week 15 fantasy football rankings.
