Jameis Winston is one of the more polarizing free agent quarterbacks available this offseason, but with several teams needing a new starting QB, he could find himself with some demand. Winston will only be 27 years old at the start of the 2021 season, and he's had success as a starter, leading the league in passing yards with 5,109 in 2019.

Decision-making is clearly a sore spot for him, as his 88 INTs in five seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ultimately cost him his job. But NFL teams want talent, and Winston certainly has some untapped potential.

With that in mind, here is a prediction on three possible landing spots for Winston in free agency.

3. New England Patriots

This would be an interesting fit, as the New England Patriots are back in the market for a quarterback with Cam Newton likely a one-and-done. One thing about Winston is he's been relatively durable throughout his career, only missing a handful of games in 2017 with a shoulder injury. He has a big arm, and out of quarterbacks with potential to improve in a new system, Winston ranks right up there as a top target. Head coach Bill Belichick could be the one to turn around the former No. 1 pick's career.

2. Washington Football Team

Washington Football Team head coach Ron Rivera saw plenty of Winston while coaching against him at Carolina. The team has parted ways with QB Alex Smith and his salary, along with former first-round bust Dwayne Haskins. Now Taylor Heinicke is the starter ahead of Kyle Allen after his solid playoff performance and contract extension. If Washington makes a run at Winston, it's likely for a reduced price. But he could still come in to compete and win the job as the team looks to take the next step.

1. San Francisco 49ers

Winston could re-emerge and flourish under San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan. San Francisco could make a run at Winston if the team decides they want the risk/reward option. The jury is out on QB Jimmy Garoppolo, and backup Nick Mullens certainly isn't the answer either. With trade interest for Jimmy G, the 49ers could move on from him this offseason and pursue a QB with starter experience like Winston as they hope to get back to contention.
