3 Offseason Moves the Jaguars Need to Make to Go From Worst to First in AFC South in the 2020 NFL Season

The Jacksonville Jaguars avoided what initially looked like it was going to be a disastrous 2019 campaign. Nick Foles broke his collarbone in the team's first game of the season, and he would only go on to play four games in 2020. They did, however, still find themselves at the bottom of the competitive AFC South.
The season wasn't nearly as bad as it could've been, largely thanks to Gardner Minshew's impressive play, but Jacksonville still has a long way to go if it hopes to compete for a postseason spot in 2020.
Here are three moves Jacksonville should make this offseason in order to gear up to compete for the top spot in the AFC South.
1. Commit to Gardner Minshew
As mentioned above, Minshew did an excellent job as a rookie. The 2019 sixth-round pick seemingly came out of nowhere, throwing 21 touchdowns to 6 interceptions while leading Jacksonville to a 6-6 record across his 12 starts. Minshew also averaged 7.3 adjusted yards per attempt (AY/A), good for the 13th-best mark in football. Notably, Foles has been below that mark in each of the last three seasons. Minshew seems to give Jacksonville its best chance at winning, and his incredibly cheap contract gives the Jaguars the flexibility to bolster the roster around him. Getting out of the Foles deal could prove complicated, but Minshew looks like the future of this franchise.
2. Draft a Cornerback to Replace Jalen Ramsey
The Jaguars enter this offseason armed with two first-round picks, and they'll likely need to use one to replace Jalen Ramsey after trading him mid-way through the 2019 season. Jacksonville surrendered the sixth-most yards per attempt (7.9) last year, and the Jaguars will now have to endure a full season without the All-Pro corner. Addressing a lackluster secondary is a must, and someone like Trevon Diggs or Kristian Fulton could make a ton of sense for the Jags.
3. Draft a Tight End
The 2020 NFL Draft doesn't feature the most talented crop of tight ends, but it's a real need for the Jaguars. In fact, James O'Shaughnessy was Jacksonville's most productive tight end in 2019, and he only had 153 receiving yards. Unfortunately, they'll likely have to address the position in the NFL Draft, as Jacksonville currently has the second-worst cap situation in the league, so a high-end free agent will be out of their budget. Someone like Notre Dame's Cole Kmet could really help out, and Washington's Hunter Bryant could be an interesting fit as well.
