The Atlanta Braves are feeling great following this past weekend's 3-0 sweep of the New York Mets. The series victory launched the Braves into the top spot of the NL East, having them sit 1.5 games ahead of the Mets heading into the season's final days.

The NL East winner might not be officially decided yet, but the Braves can change that on Tuesday. It's a fairly simple situation that can be helped out by another divisional rival.

If the Braves want to clinch the NL East, as well as Division Series home-field advantage, they simply need to defeat the Miami Marlins on Tuesday. If that doesn't happen, the Mets losing to the Washington Nationals would also clinch the division for Atlanta.

Even though the Braves are on the road, the good news is that they have a 24-8 record in their last 32 trips to Miami. Furthermore, Atlanta had actually won eight straight games against the Marlins this season before Monday's 4-0 loss.

The Nationals upsetting the Mets might seem unlikely, but don't count the NL East's basement-dwellers out just yet. Washington has won each of its last two games against New York, outscoring the Mets 14-2 in the process.

At the end of the day, the easiest path for the Braves is just beating the Marlins. That way, their destiny is in their own hands and they don't have to rely on the Nationals pulling off an upset.

After all, the Braves are the defending World Series Champions for a reason and this is the time of the season to prove what they're made of.
