The Cleveland Guardians will continue to fine-tune their roster for the upcoming season. Now officially in 2023, Cleveland must decide on what players it wants a closer look at with Spring Training rapidly approaching.

On Wednesday, the team extended camp invites to three MLB veterans for the spring.

Outfielder Roman Quinn, pitchers Touki Toussaint and Michael Kelly, and catcher Cam Gallagher have all signed minor-league contracts with the Guardians. These deals include Spring Training invitations, bringing some experienced options to fight for roster spots.

Quinn is the biggest name of this lot. He saw a significant run with the Philadelphia Phillies from 2016-22, logging 201 appearances. Injuries prevented him from ever developing any real consistent production, though. The 2011 draftee finished his Phillies tenure with 8 home runs and 41 RBIs before spending the second half of last season with the Tampa Bay Rays.

Touissant also sticks out here. He was the No. 16 overall selection in the 2014 draft and viewed as one of the best prospects in the league at one point. However, his early dominance in the minors never translated to the majors even after switching to a bullpen role. The 6-foot-3 righty owns a career 4.62 ERA across 170.1 innings so far.

Gallagher has served in a backup role for the Kansas City Royals since the 2017 season. He appeared in 171 games for KC over the past six years, hitting .240 with 7 home runs and 39 RBIs combined.

Kelly, meanwhile, just made his MLB debut in 2022 at 29 years old. He saw four appearances for the Philadelphia Phillies, allowing 1 earned run in four innings.

This is a group of intriguing names and backgrounds. It remains to be seen if any are able to crack the Opening Day roster for Cleveland.
