Giants Get Massive Brandon Belt Injury Update

Brandon Belt's recent knee injury has not gone according to plan for the San Francisco Giants. The longtime Giant hasn't played in nearly a month, and underwent a small setback in his recovery over the weekend.
Fortunately, that setback seems to be behind the slugging first baseman. The latest report from Maria Guardado of MLB.com suggests Belt could be in line to return to San Francisco's lineup, as early as their upcoming three-game set against the Kansas City Royals.

Belt was originally circling this past weekend's series against the Los Angeles Dodgers as a potential return, before his latest setback.
The two-time World Series champion continues to "ramp up baseball activities," according to team insider Maria Guardado. However, this news comes on the heels of a rather discouraging update from Gabe Kapler, who said there was "nothing definitive" about Belt's timeline.
At this point, the Giants are eager to get their slugging lefty back on the field. Belt slashed .285/.393/.595 across his previous two seasons, including 38 total home runs and 89 RBIs in 148 games.
The Giants look to keep their good times rolling after sweeping Los Angeles, and FanDuel Sportsbook's MLB odds show San Francisco as -180 moneyline favorites over the Royals on Monday.
