New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard returned in Week 8 after a one-game absence. The pass-catcher only played the first half of Monday night's game, though, before suffering a quad injury.

The latest on Shepard is disappointing news for New York.

Sterling Shepard Injury

Shepard is expected to miss "some time" with his current quad strain. The sixth-year wideout has already been sidelined for three games this season, and his latest absence comes at a poor moment with other receivers nursing their own injuries.

Shepard has played a large role when healthy, seeing at least 9 targets in three of five games played (and 7 in the first half of Week 8). He's hauled in 32 receptions for 324 yards and 1 TD this season.

The likes of Kadarius Toney and Darius Slayton could be New York's top receiving options in Week 9 with Shepard out and Kenny Golladay questionable. The Giants are currently 3-point underdogs in that matchup, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
