Geno Smith and his Seattle Seahawks could not contain the firepower from the San Francisco 49ers during Wild Card Weekend, falling by nearly 20 points in the opening playoff round. However, that doesn't negate the incredible performance Smith and his team put on throughout the season.

Seattle's nine wins and playoff appearance are considered wildly successful after losing Russell Wilson last offseason. But, this was a gamble. The Seahawks signed Smith, who had started just 34 career games before this season, to a one-year contract worth $3.5 million.

The 32-year-old quarterback spoke to the media following the game to declare his thoughts on sticking around in the Pacific Northwest.

Smith made his intentions clear, saying "I want to finish my career in Seattle. I want to be here. The town, the city, the team, Coach Carroll, the organization -- they all embraced me. I was a guy who probably could have been out of the league. They embraced me, and I want to repay them for that."

It's a strong sentiment by Smith, who finally had a team fully buy into his talents and let him flourish. Money is now a major factor in this equation, though. From a quarterback worth $3.5 million in annual value, Smith went on to toss for more than 4,000 yards and throw 30 touchdowns to just 11 interceptions

Current projections show Smith's new average annual value noth of $30 million. That's a discussion for Seattle, Smith and the front office to handle, but it will play a major role in the quarterback's desire to end his career with the Seahawks.
