Fantasy Golf Picks for the U.S. Open at Winged Foot GC

While it's happening much later than normal in 2020, the 120th U.S. Open is set to kick off this Thursday at the famed Winged Foot GC in Mamaroneck, NY. The field is loaded per usual at the U.S. Open, although it will be played without two-time champion Brooks Koepka.
Welcome to Winged Foot.

Let's take a look at a few golfers to consider when putting together your fantasy golf team this week.
Fantasy Golf Picks for the U.S. Open
Dustin Johnson:
Simply put, no one in the world is playing better golf than Dustin Johnson right now. Coming off securing a FedExCup win two weeks ago in the Tour Championship, Johnson's game was hot even before that. In his last four starts, he has two second-place finishes and two wins. He's been as close to unstoppable as you can be the last month or so. He has even performed well in recent U.S. Open starts. Over his last five starts at the U.S. Open, he has a win and two top-3 finishes. He is top 20 this season in Strokes Gained (SG): Off-The-Tee and SG: Approach The Green, and top-10 on tour in SG: Tee-To-Green and SG: Total.

The 120th U.S. Open has arrived!
Xander Schauffele:
Xander Schauffele has quietly been lurking in the weeds for a while now, even in majors. He has placed in the top-25 in eight consecutive starts, which includes two top-6 finishes. In his last start, he placed T-2 at the Tour Championship. In the last two U.S. Open starts at Shinnecock Hills and Pebble Beach, Schauffele has placed sixth and third, respectively. In the 2019 Masters, he placed second. He has been knocking on the door of a major title for a couple of years now and Winged Foot could be the place he breaks through. He ranks top-8 on tour in SG: Off-The-Tee (8th), SG: Tee-To-Green (7th) and SG: Total (3rd).
Webb Simpson:
Add Webb Simpson to the list of golfers playing great heading into this tournament. In Simpson's last five starts, he has only finished outside the top-12 once, and also has two top-6 finishes in that span. He also has two wins on the year. Simpson is a deadly ball striker and overall one of the more accurate players on tour. He ranks No. 18 in driving accuracy, No. 11 in Greens in Regulation (GIR) and is No. 1 on tour in birdie average and scoring average. His game could play perfectly at a course like Winged Foot. While length will help at Winged Foot, accuracy and ball striking will be paramount. A golfer with a well-rounded game like Simpson could very well be on top come Sunday afternoon. He is No. 6 in SG: Approach The Green, No. 13 in SG: Putting, and No. 4 in SG: Total.
