Finding a good mid-season source of saves or steals in fantasy baseball can be tough business for many fantasy baseball players throughout the year. However, no matter what time of year it may be, there are always one or two players that can give you the kind of production you may need in those two categories – at least for the short term.

Here are three fantasy baseball waiver wire pickups for saves or steals, all of whom are available in more than 50 percent of Yahoo! Fantasy Baseball leagues.

Steals: Oscar Mercado, OF, Cleveland Indians

Oscar Mercado has been excellent for the Cleveland Indians this season and has recently been in prime base-stealing form. The 24-year-old outfielder has stolen a base in each of his last two games, doubling his stolen base total for the season in the process.

Mercado has been tearing the cover off the ball (three consecutive multi-hit games) and getting on-base at a .364 clip over the last week. As long as he stays on his current hot streak, he should see more stolen base opportunities in the coming weeks.

Saves: Taylor Rogers, RP, Minnesota Twins

The Minnesota Twins have used a closer-by-committee approach throughout the season, but Taylor Rogers has seemingly been the preferred option to slam the door in recent weeks. The 28-year-old lefty has been called upon for the save in each of his last three appearances, going 3-for-3 in said opportunities while striking out four in the process (four innings pitched).

There's always a possibility that Rogers could lose some save opportunities to Blake Parker, but right now, fantasy players should grab him as soon as possible. As of Monday afternoon, Rogers has seen his ownership in Yahoo! Fantasy Baseball leagues spike to 49 percent thanks to his recent performance.

Steals: Jurickson Profar, 1B/2B/3B/SS, Oakland Athletics

Jurickson Profar has been as streaky as streaky can get this fantasy baseball season, but he's seemingly turned the corner. At least for now, anyway. The 26-year-old infielder owns a .375 on-base percentage over his last six games and stole his fifth base of the year during that span.

Profar's volatility makes him a speculative add for now, but he's getting on-base at a decent clip lately and, with a clear willingness to run when given the green light, has pretty good steals potential.
