Falcons Re-Sign Key Member of Their Defense

With only a week to go until the start of NFL free agency, teams are scrambling to tag and re-sign players before they reach the open market.
Fortunately, the Atlanta Falcons won't have to worry about losing a key member of their defense this offseason.

Falcons Offseason News
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Falcons are meeting with linebacker Lorenzo Carter to sign a two-year contract on Tuesday. While the terms of the deal haven't been revealed yet, it will keep Carter in Atlanta through the 2024 campaign and prevent him from reaching free agency this offseason.
That's great news for the Falcons, as Carter had a major impact on the team's defense in 2022 after Atlanta signed him last offseason. He started all 17 regular season games for the Falcons, tallying 4.0 sacks and a career-high 58 tackles as well as 12 QB hits. He also broke up two passes and returned his lone interception for a 28-yard touchdown.
At age 27, Carter should still have several more productive years in front of him as long as he stays healthy. Atlanta is banking on that and is hopeful he'll be able to help the team reach the playoffs for the first time since 2017.
