The Atlanta Falcons have made it clear all options are on the table this offseason when it comes to quarterback. Matt Ryan is currently in line to return as the starter in 2022, but that won't stop the team from looking at this year's NFL Draft for a potential successor.
Falcons Draft Rumors
It turns out the Falcons have spoken to a pair of quarterback prospects at this week's scouting combine.
Matt Corral Falcons
Ole Miss quarterback Matt Coral revealed on Wednesday that Atlanta was his second interview at the combine, which showcases clear eagerness on the Falcons' behalf to speak with the prospect.
Corral added how much he admires Ryan's career and expressed being open to serving as the veteran's backup.
Kenny Pickett Falcons
Corral wasn't the only QB to talk with Atlanta, as Pitt's Kenny Pickett also interviewed with the team.
Pickett is viewed as the top player at his position in this year's class, and the Falcons would be in prime position to select him with the No. 8 pick if they decide to nab a Ryan successor.
Drafting a QB that high, though, doesn't seem like the best plan for Atlanta given the other holes on the roster. GM Terry Fontenot using either of his two second-rounders makes a ton of sense if a prospect falls further than expected.
The Falcons remain a wild card and could help shape the draft depending on what they do with the No. 8 selection. Either way, it appears Atlanta is taking an extended at the most important position in football as April approaches.
