Cubs News: Chicago Gets Good Update on Matt Duffy Injury

The 2021 season has gone downhill fast for the Chicago Cubs. A recent 11-game losing streak tanked Chicago's solid record to under .500, and the team could be headed for some major roster changes ahead of the MLB Trade Deadline. So any good news is much welcomed at the moment.
Manager David Ross provided some on Sunday with the latest Matt Duffy injury update.
Ross: Duffy starts Minor League rehab assignment on Monday, Bote follows on Friday.

Matt Duffy Injury Update
Duffy will start a rehab assignment in the minors on Monday. The infielder has been sidelined since May with a lower back strain, so it's great to see him ready to ramp up his recovery in hopes of returning to the lineup.
Duffy only saw 90 at-bats before his 2021 campaign was interrupted. He recorded 1 home run and 12 RBI while slashing .278/.377/.356. His standout performance of the season so far came on May 15 when he racked up 3 hits and 5 RBI against the Detroit Tigers.
Getting a depth piece back on the roster is never a bad thing. And if the Cubs move on from major position players ahead of the deadline, Duffy could see a heightened role down the stretch of the season.
