The Chicago Cubs missed out on postseason baseball for just the second time in the past five years in 2021 and the atrocious pitching staff was a big reason why.
Chicago finished in fourth place with a 71-91 record while their staff pitched to a 4.87 ERA, the fourth-worst mark in baseball.
The Cubbies responded on Monday by hiring one of the best pitching coaches in the minor leagues: Daniel Moskos.

Moskos will take on a role as assistant pitching coach to Tommy Hottovy, who enters his fourth year at the helm. Moskos spent the past two seasons with New York Yankees affiliate Double-A Somerset, and led his Double-AA staff to league-leading marks in ERA (3.38), WHIP (1.160) and opponent batting average (.212).
Prior to his coaching stints, Moskos was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates at No. 4 overall and pitched 31 games for the Pirates in 2011.
Currently, the Cubs hold just +10000 odds to win the 2022 World Series on FanDuel Sportsbook.
