The reigning National Champion Clemson Tigers are already starting this season off on the right foot, with heavy -750 odds to make the 2020 College Football Playoff, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

Clemson also lays claim to the betting favorite to win the 2019 Heisman Trophy in quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Lawrence should be looking to pick up right where he left off, which was a 44-16 stomping of Alabama in last season's National Championship game.

While Clemson's odds to make the four-team playoff stand much taller than the rest of the field, you can also bet Clemson to miss this season's CFP at +450 odds.

After an embarrassing end to last season, Alabama is second to Clemson in this measure as well, with -235 odds to make the 2020 CFP. While the Crimson Tide aren't the overall favorites here, the program has been the epitome of consistency under Nick Saban, and they are the only school to make every College Football Playoff to date.

Beyond Alabama and Clemson, there is a noticeable drop-off in the odds, with the race for the two remaining spots seemingly wide open. Georgia has the third-best odds at +130, with Ohio State just behind the Bulldogs at +140. Other schools currently in the race include Oklahoma (+198), Michigan (+280), LSU (+950), Florida (+1000) and Nebraska (+1400).

With so many great contenders, this college football season has the opportunity to be one of the most exciting ones we've seen in recent years.
