The NFL's franchise tag deadline is Tuesday, and with one tag allowed in each franchise's pocket, teams around the league will have some tough decisions to make. This includes the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who must make a decision about franchise tagging either wide receiver Chris Godwin or cornerback Carlton Davis.

Reports suggest that there's widespread belief around the league on which player Tampa Bay will offer its one and only franchise tag in this year's offseason.

According to ESPN, one source confirmed there's a "90% chance" the Buccaneers will choose to franchise tag Godwin. It's quite clear Tampa Bay is unwilling to lose their fifth-year wideout, even though his 2021 season was ended by a torn ACL.

Tampa Bay used the franchise tag on Godwin a year ago, which stipulates a "one-year tender of the average of the top five salaries at the player's position over the last five years, or 120 percent of his previous salary, whichever is greater."

The recent report also suggests the Buccaneers feel confident in re-signing Davis if they opt to go this route. As a wide receiver who has put up two 1,100+ yard receiving campaigns in the past three years, Godwin's services will demand more on the open market.
