The Tampa Bay Buccaneers finished last season with a 7-9 record, and that was with starting quarterback Jameis Winston throwing 30 interceptions.
As we head into 2020, Tampa Bay has brought in a new signal caller, and it'd be pretty hard to imagine Tom Brady putting up a worse performance than Winston did.
However, according FanDuel Sportsbook, Brady, who only threw eight interceptions in 2019, improves Tampa's projected win total by just two games, which Bucs fans should view as disrespectful.
The Bucs ended up re-signing the majority of their key free agents, including Ndamukong Suh, Jason Pierre-Paul and Shaquil Barrett. Barrett led the NFL in sacks last year, with 19.5, as a part of a defense that ranked in the top 5 of Football Outsiders' DVOA metric in 2019.
Additionally, the Bucs signed offensive lineman Joe Haeg, which should help add extra protection for Brady.
If the defense can maintain its same level of efficiency and production in 2020, and Brady has a typical Brady-like year, Tampa should see some stark improvement. With six of the Bucs' nine losses coming by seven points or fewer in 2019, simply not having the stunning amount of turnovers Winston had should be enough to flip the script on a minimum two of those games.
Whichever way you slice it, with what Tampa did to fix its biggest weakness last year, oddsmakers projecting only a two-win improvement seems a little a low.
