Browns Get Gutting Injury Update on Anthony Walker

The Cleveland Browns' defenders played a massive role in Thursday's 29-17 victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers. It wasn't all good news for Cleveland's defense as linebacker Anthony Walker was carted out with a lower-body injury in the game's second half.
Unfortunately, things have turned even worse for Walker's situation. Further testing revealed that Walker has suffered a torn quad and will not return during the 2022 NFL season, according to league insider Ian Rapoport.
#Browns LB Anthony Walker, who left Thursday’s game on a cart with his leg immobilized, suffered a season-ending injury, source says. It’s a torn quad tendon and he’ll require surgery to repair it.

Anthony Walker Injury Update
A former Indianapolis Colts fifth-round pick, Walker has been plagued by injuries since arriving in Cleveland in 2021. The Miami, FL native was sidelined for all but nine games last year with a hamstring injury and now will be limited to just three outings this season.
Walker was looking solid this year before disaster struck. He racked up 13 tackles and a pair of broken-up passes through three games, while also leading the NFL with four tackles for a loss. Now, the Browns must figure out how to replace him in the long haul.
What's even worse is that Walker re-signed with the Browns on a one-year deal this past offseason. Missing the majority of the year will now make it tougher for him to get a substantial payday in the spring.
Former 2020 third-round pick Jacob Phillips is the next middle linebacker on the Browns' depth chart. The 23-year-old has played just 16 games (four starts) over the last three seasons, recording 54 tackles, five defended passes and a pair of sacks.
At the end of the day, the Browns defense will likely suffer without Walker. It remains to be seen how the injury affects Cleveland's Super Bowl LVII odds, which currently sit at +4400 (No. 16) on FanDuel Sportsbook.
