The Atlanta Braves continue to tinker with their roster as the NL East race heats up. That included opening a spot on the 40-man roster this weekend by designating former top prospect Touki Toussaint for assignment.
Now the 26-year-old has been traded to a new home.
Touki Toussaint Trade
Atlanta agreed to send Toussaint to the Los Angeles Angels for cash considerations on Sunday. Injuries and performance issues have played a role in him failing to live up to his top prospect status, but he still has youth on his side at just 26 years old.
After being drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2014, the right-hander was traded to the Braves in a deal for Phil Gosselin. Toussaint went on to crack top-100 prospects lists and he eventually made his MLB debut in 2018.
Toussaint never carved out a consistent role in the majors, though, appearing in a combined 49 games (21 starts) from 2018-2021. He recorded an overall 9-6 record and 5.46 ERA across 145.0 innings of work.
The former No. 16 overall selection failed to see any run with the Braves this season, clearing the way for the club to move on.
