The Toronto Blue Jays have had a very busy Wednesday. Still very early on in the offseason, the Blue Jays GM woke up and started wheeling and dealing. While the big news of the day was the trade of All-Star Teoscar Hernandez in an effort to bolster the team's struggling bullpen, there was another move late Tuesday night that flew under the radar a bit.

Toronto designated outfielder Raimel Tapia for assignment, meaning his time in Toronto is over.

Tapia has a career .277 average and even hit .321 in 2020, but he saw his numbers dip well below that in 2022, hitting just .265 and an OBP under .300 at .292. In 128 games he did have 7 home runs and 52 RBIs, the RBI total was a career-high.

It probably won't be long before Tapia has other teams calling for his services, but Toronto clearly didn't view him as part of its future. Something is clearly cooking in Toronto this offseason and it will be interesting to see how it all shakes out.
