As the NFL summer of training camps heats up, so do the potential trade rumors between the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles surrounding three-time Pro Bowl tight end Zach Ertz. Ertz remains dissatisfied with his situation in Philly and the Bills are still on the lookout for a solution at tight end.

NFL insider Josina Anderson recently reported that Buffalo still has apprehensions about the team's current tight end situation. Dawson Knox operated as the Bills' No. 1 tight end option last season, however, only recorded 24 receptions for 288 yards in 12 games.

Zach Ertz Bills Rumors

The Ertz-Bills trade rumors have swirled throughout the NFL offseason. But, this latest report is another reminder to keep an eye out on this situation as the 2021 NFL season approaches. The Bills are still talking about their lack of tight end production, which points to a potential deal very much still on the table.

Buffalo ranked third in the entire league with 288.8 yards through the air last season. But Knox saw 33 other tight ends rank above him in average receiving yards per game (24.0). That includes multiple tight ends from the same teams such as the Eagles, Denver Broncos, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Los Angeles Rams, Tennessee Titans and Minnesota Vikings.

Last season was a bit of an aberration for Ertz. Yes, the longtime Eagles tight end is now 30 years old, which could indicate age as a factor. But, Ertz only hauled 36 passes for 335 receiving yards and a single touchdown in 2020. In each of Ertz's seven other NFL season, he's eclipsed all of those marks including 116 catches for 1,163 yards and 8 touchdowns in 2018.

The idea of Ertz revitalizing his career in Buffalo is a scary proposition for other NFL teams. Buffalo remains on the favorites to win the Super Bowl in 2021 with their +1200 odds, according to the latest NFL odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
