During a desperate attempt to steal away a Week 9 victory over the New York Jets, Bills quarterback Josh Allen dropped back to pass and was hit on the elbow of his throwing arm. Buffalo was not able to pull off the dramatic victory and fell to 6-2 , but the news got worse from there.

A frustrating report on Allen's injury emerged late Monday.

NFL insider Chris Mortensen explains the Pro Bowl gunslinger is "being evaluated for an elbow injury to his ulnar collateral ligament and related nerves." Head coach Sean McDermott is supposed to provide more information on Tuesday.

Not to jump to any conclusions, but an ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) injury is serious news. UCL injuries are most common in the sport of baseball, with many of the sport's top pitchers suffering the ailment on a yearly basis. Unfortunately, UCL tears result in Tommy John surgery, MLB pitchers often miss at least a year of action following Tommy John surgery.

It's not yet known the severity of Allen's injury, but Bills fans should be rightfully fearful over the idea of Tommy John surgery.

For now, the Bills own leading +300 odds to win Super Bowl 57 on FanDuel Sportsbook. A lengthy absence from Allen would devastate those odds.
