The Buffalo Bills are gearing up for a potential Super Bowl run during the 2022 NFL season, adding as much possible depth to help in their journey. They added another body to the wide receiver room on Friday, inking explosive veteran Tavon Austin to a one-year deal.
Tavon Austin Bills
The Bills already had a talented WR room, led by the likes of Stefon Diggs, Gabriel Davis and Jamison Crowder. However, Austin's presence certainly adds more speed to the equation. He ran a 4.34-second 40-yard dash in 2013 and even know he might not be as fast at 32, he still adds another depth to the offense.
Austin was relatively quiet in 13 games (three starts) with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021, recording 24 receptions for 213 yards and a touchdown. The Bills don't even need to use him solely as a wideout. He's a capable rusher, having turned 199 career carries into 1,361 rushing yards and 10 TDs.
The Bills have one of the top passing attacks in the league, putting up 258.2 yards per game (No. 7) last season. Even with Austin being nothing more than a depth additon, playing with a quarterback of Josh Allen's talents should help him make the most of any given opportunity.
Bills Super Bowl Odds
Austin won't exactly be a needle-mover for his new team, but they don't need him to be one. The Bills are already FanDuel Sportsbook's +650 favorite to win Super Bowl LVII next February.
