A year after surrendering the seventh-most passing yards in the league, the Cincinnati Bengals addressed their obvious secondary needs in the 2022 NFL Draft. Cincinnati spent three of their six picks on defensive backs, including their first and second-round selections.
Unfortunately, one of those rookies has yet to make an impact on the roster. Second-rounder Cam Taylor-Britt went on the injured reserve in early September because of core muscle surgery.
Wednesday's injury report brought an exciting update on the former Nebraska product.
Cam Taylor-Britt Injury Update
Bengals insider Ben Baby reported the team cleared Taylor-Britt and designated his official return from the IR. He joined veteran defensive end Khalid Kareem in this activation.
The team drafted Taylor-Britt with the 60th overall pick back in April, trading up three spots with the Buffalo Bills to land the former Cornhusker. Known for his speed and versatility, Taylor-Britt played 40 games for Nebraska. He mainly slotted in at cornerback but showed the ability to move over to safety when needed.
Taylor-Britt's final college season was his best, racking up a career-high 51 tackles in 12 games. He also posted 1 interception, 11 passes defended and one sack.
Cincinnati's secondary is already performing better in 2022. They currently rank 14th in yards allowed and tied for the second-fewest passing TDs surrendered. Taylor-Britt adds another layer of depth to this unit.
The Bengals are now 2-2 on the season and hold +2400 odds to win Super Bowl 57 on FanDuel Sportsbook.
