Cincinnati Bengals star running back Joe Mixon injured his foot against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 6. Though he was ultimately able to gut it out and return in the second half, that foot injury has lingered longer than some were expecting it to.

Things have taken a turn for the worse, though, as Cincinnati has already ruled him out of its Week 7 divisional showdown with the Cleveland Browns.

With Mixon out, Bernard will serve as Cincinnati's lead back against Cleveland. Mixon was averaging 19.8 carries per game entering this week, and it's fair to assume Bernard will soak up the lion's share of that volume.

This is definitely a blow to the Bengals' offense, though. It could also force Joe Burrow to air it out quite a bit come Sunday.

Cincinnati takes on the Tennessee Titans in Week 8, but it's possible the Bengals could elect to hold Mixon out until Week 10, as the team has a bye in Week 9.
