Bears Fans Will Love Chris Simms' 2022 QB Power Rankings

As the 2022 NFL campaign looms, many people are wondering if Justin Fields has what it takes to be a full-time starting quarterback. He showed flashes of promise now and then as a rookie last year, but sharing starts with Nick Foles and Andy Dalton left fans wondering if he's ready to take the next step.
While the Bears always have their doubters, NFL analyst Chris Simms seems to have confidence in Fields. Simms has listed the sophomore signal-caller at the No. 23 spot of his 2022 quarterback power rankings.

2022 NFL QB Power Rankings
Bears fans will love Simms' rankings because of the fact that Fields comes in at No. 23, placing him only three spots away from being in the top half of the list. It's a significant increase over the No. 39 spot Simms had Fields listed at last year.
The Kennesaw, GA native started in 10 of the 12 games he played last season, completing 58.9 % of his passes for 1,870 yards and seven touchdowns to 10 interceptions. He also racked up 420 yards on 72 rushing attempts (5.8 per carry), adding a pair of touchdowns on the ground.
Fortunately, Fields also gets the pleasure of working with new offensive coordinator Luke Getsy. The 38-year-old was a Green Bay Packers assistant coach for seven seasons between 2014 and 2021, working closely with Aaron Rodgers over the last three seasons as the QB coach.
Fans shouldn't expect Fields to become Rodgers, though. Outside of wideout Darnell Mooney and tight end Cole Kmet, he doesn't really have any reliable passing targets. Still, Getsy passing on any helpful information from his time with the Packers could have a positive impact on both the Bears and Fields.
Nevertheless, Simms seems to believe that Fields has the tools to improve in 2022. If he can take that next step while lacking credible pass-catching weapons, it'd be that much more remarkable.
