Austin Hooper got a very optimistic injury update on Tuesday, indicating that he might even return in Week 12 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

However, less than 24 hours later, we can pump the breaks as the tight end has been ruled out for this weekend's contest. Hooper does still appear to be ahead of schedule though, with a chance of returning in Week 13 against the New Orleans Saints, something that points to some potential future fantasy football value.

Hooper leads all tight ends with 17.2 PPR fantasy points per game on the season, and he's averaged 6.2 receptions on 7.4 targets per game, giving him a high level of consistency that we don't usually find at the TE position.

With that volume up for grabs, WR Calvin Ridley gets another boost this week, as he saw 26 percent of the Falcons' targets with Hooper sidelined in Week 11, compared to 15 percent over the first 10 weeks of the season.

Hooper's absence doesn't create any real fantasy value for the Falcons' other tight ends though, as Jaeden Graham had just two targets for 23 yards while playing 52 percent of Atlanta's offensive snaps in Week 11.

One thing that is a great sign for Hooper's future fantasy value is that there was even a conversation about the tight end potentially suiting up this weekend. As soon as he's back in action, Hooper will return to being an every-week TE1, and a Week 13 return could allow him to get back up to full speed and into lineups in time for the fantasy football playoffs.

With Hooper out, here are The Duel's Week 12 fantasy football PPR rankings at tight end.
