The Houston Astros' lineup has been missing a key piece during Spring Training games so far, but that will change on Friday.

Alex Bregman is set to make his spring debut for the Astros against the Atlanta Braves. He's slated to play third base and bat cleanup in Houston's starting lineup.

Alex Bregman Injury Update

This is a great sign for Bregman, who's had a long offseason recovering from a broken left index finger that he suffered during Game 6 of the 2022 World Series. Thankfully the Astros won that game to clinch the championship, which surely took some of the sting out of Bregman's injury.

Now, after four months, he is ready to return to game action. He still has nearly all of March to get ready for Opening Day on the 30th.

The two-time All-Star is expected to be an anchor for the defending champs at the hot corner, where he's played for them since 2016. A former MVP runner-up as well, Bregman has high hopes for 2023 after pounding 23 home runs and 38 doubles last year with 93 RBIs and an .820 OPS.

Assuming his finger is fully healed, Bregman will try to lead Houston to its third title in seven seasons. The Astros are currently favored to win the 2023 World Series on FanDuel Sportsbook's MLB odds at +600.
