Angels News: LA Gets Mixed News on Justin Upton Injury Update

The Los Angeles Angels' 2021 season has not gone the way that they planned. With a 36-37 record, the Angels are 9.0 games behind the Houston Astros for first place in the AL West, putting them in danger of missing the playoffs for the seventh straight season. While there's still over half of the season to turn things around, it'll be more difficult after the mixed injury update the club received regarding outfielder Justin Upton.
The four-time all-star made an early exit in Tuesday's game against the San Francisco Giants with some lower back tightness. While the hope that it's something minor, Upton will be out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Giants.

Justin Upton Injury Update
Here's where the mixed part of Upton's injury update comes in. While he's going to miss at least one more game, the good news is that the team hasn't put him on the injured list just yet. This usually means that the injury isn't too serious, however, that's not to say that his status can't change at all. Still, Angels fans should appreciate this small bit of optimism.
A mainstay of Los Angeles' outfield since 2017, Upton is on pace to have his best season as an Angel to date. He's already recorded 10 doubles, 14 home runs and 32 RBI in 223 at-bats so far on a .247/.336/.480 slash line. It's safe to say that the L.A. will miss his production, regardless of how long he's out of the lineup.
Without Upton, the Angels are entering Wednesday's tilt against the Giants as the +106 underdogs while San Francisco is favored at -124 odds, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
