As one of this offseason's premier free agents, Chicago Bears wideout Allen Robinson will have a line of suitors in NFL free agency if he hits the open market. That's a big "if" though, as the Bears could franchise tag the receiver and keep him in Chicago if the two sides can't agree on a long-term extension.
Ahead of the deadline to tag players, Robinson had some concerning remarks.
The seven-year vet made it clear that he wants a long-term contract on par with his production. However, with he and the team not having many talks on the subject, it doesn't seem like that will become a reality by the Mar. 9 franchise tag deadline.
Robinson would make any team better if he's free to pursue other options this offseason. He just grabbed a career-high 102 receptions for 1,250 yards and 6 TDs with Mitchell Trubisky and Nick Foles as his quarterbacks.
The WR has stated his interest to play for a contender, and while the Bears aren't on that level yet, they could get him to stick around if they're willing to work on a long-term deal.
The ball is in Chicago's court, but they run the risk of upsetting their top wideout if he does receive the tag this offseason.
