Many assumed that quarterback Aaron Rodgers stopped any and all retirement rumors a few months ago when he signed a three-year extension with the Green Bay Packers. Those involved were happy with the outcome, but Rodgers added a bit of fuel to the fire with an interesting quote on Sunday.

Green Bay Packers News

Rodgers said that the Week 4 win over the New England Patriots "probably was" the last time he will face head coach Bill Belichick in his career. Yes, the Packers and Patriots do not meet up in the regular season often. However, saying this without knowing the upcoming schedules is noteworthy.

Those rumors are rushing back now. The 38-year-old has been dropping retirement hints for the past year and spoke at length this past offseason about his plan for the future. When asked about whether he will be playing at 45 years old like Tom Brady, Rodgers simply said "I will be doing something else."

Belichick had a lengthy conversation with Rodgers prior to and following New England's loss. He gave the 10-time Pro Bowler credit for the win, saying "he was just too smart, too good, too accurate." This comes after Rodgers called Belichick the "greatest coach of all-time" and a "living legend" last week.

What matter now is that the Packers are 3-1 so far this season and rank sixth in terms of yards per game (377.5). The goal has always been and will always remain winning the Super Bowl for the first time since 2010. Green Bay has odds set at +1000 to accomplish that goal, per FanDuel Sportsbook.
