The reigning National League champions seemingly took a step backward this offseason. The Los Angeles Dodgers lost Manny Machado to the San Diego Padres and haven't made that big splash in free agency. However, that hasn't stopped them from being favored to win the National League, according to the odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
At +360, the Dodgers are heavy favorites to represent the NL in the World Series yet again.
With the talent that still remains on this team, you can't be totally surprised. The Dodgers still have an incredible pitching staff, led by three-time NL Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw. Shortstop Corey Seager is set to return, after missing the majority of the 2018 season, and they added outfielder A.J. Pollock via free agency – the team's likely one and two hitters.
And imagine how the Dodgers' odds would further shift if they happen to add Bryce Harper. That seemed to be their plan when they traded away Yasiel Puig and could still play out with the former MVP still available.
With the Chicago Cubs (+600), Philadelphia Phillies (+700), Milwaukee Brewers (+750) and St. Louis Cardinals (+750) rounding out the top five in odds to win the NL pennant, the Dodgers have nearly two times better odds to make their third straight World Series. And those odds will likely change once Harper finally signs.
But if he lands in Los Angeles, that lineup will be tough to beat.
