The temperature in the AFC Championship game between the Chiefs and Patriots is going to be frigid and apparently, that's not the only thing that's freezing over this weekend.

The over/under for the game opened at 57 on FanDuel Sportsbook and has since dropped to 55 just a day after the weather report was released. This comes on the heels of reports that temperatures at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday may be below zero as an arctic blast settles in across the Midwest.

Bettors are obviously wary of the freezing temperatures impacting scoring, even if there is no statistical data that says cold weather decreases scoring. In fact, according to The Action Network, overs actually perform better in cold weather games. However, we may have a cyclical effect here where the over performs better in cold games because it's driven down beforehand by people who think that the cold weather will affect scoring. Still, there's no real way to tell if that's the case.

Either way, the cold weather shouldn't affect the actual scoring too much in the AFC Championship game as these are two of the top offenses in the NFL.

No matter the reason, two things are clear: it's going to be unbearably cold in Kansas City this weekend and the over/under is now 2 points lower because of it.
