New England Patriots running back Rex Burkhead returned to the lineup yesterday, and the thought was that he would take away fantasy production from Sony Michel and James White. That was not the case.

White continued his amazing season as the Patriots' leading receiver, even as a running back, with seven catches on nine targets for 92 yards. Admittedly, though, 42 of White's receiving yards came on a garbage-time catch in the final seconds of the first half. Regardless, the other eight targets tell you everything you need to know about his importance in the Patriots' offense.

Michel finished the game with a team-high 17 carries and 63 rushing yards. The real nuisance to Michel was actually fullback James Develin, who vultured him on two touchdowns via goal-line carries. The former Georgia Bulldog still had more touches than any other Patriots' running back, and his day would've been a lot more profitable if not for Develin's antics.

Burkhead had a decent day with seven carries for 20 rushing yards while adding two catches for 21 receiving yards. It was clear that head coach Bill Belichick wanted to ease him back into the rotation of backs, so we should expect to see that for the next few weeks.

It's not necessarily time to panic just yet for fantasy owners of any Patriots' running back. If not for Develin, all three of them would have hit their projected output.
