As we near the end of the 2018-19 NFL season, who's a contender and who's a pretender becomes a bit more clear each week.


Things are beginning to add up across each conference. The AFC has looked slightly weaker in recent weeks with the Kansas City Chiefs losing a nailbiter to the Los Angeles Rams -- one of the best in the NFC -- the Steelers lost to an underwhelming Broncos team in Denver, and the Patriots aren't the dominant team that had the best odds to win the Super Bowl heading into the season.


All of this adds up to the best two teams in the NFC -- the New Orleans Saints and the Rams -- as the top-two favorites to take home the Lombardi Trophy. 

New Orleans (+270) started their season on a sour note, with an upset loss at home the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but that's clearly a distant memory considering their current 10-game win streak. They've been so good that the Saints can clinch their division with a win this weekend, plus a Carolina Panthers loss to those same Bucs.


The Rams (+380) may only have one loss and the Chiefs (+500) have excelled under second-year pro Patrick Mahomes, but history looks to be in the Saints' favor. 

If this year's Saints team is better than the one that won a Super Bowl nearly 10 years ago, it's no wonder they're the current favorites to win the Lombardi Trophy.
