In recent weeks, Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield has looked every bit of what we expected him to be as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
There's a lot of pressure for a rookie quarterback heading into the NFL and even more so when you're the top pick in the draft. It took a few weeks, but Mayfield has lived up to the hype, and more.
Mayfield made Browns history by throwing for multiple touchdowns in five consecutive games for the first time in more than 50 years, but he also can be mentioned in the same sentence as future Hall of Famer Drew Brees.
Only twice in the history of the NFL (since sacks became a stat) has a QB recorded back-to-back games with:— Scott Barrett (@ScottBarrettDFB) November 26, 2018
-- 20+ pass attempts
-- A passer rating of 140.0+
-- 0 sacks
Baker Mayfield (2018, Weeks 10-12)
Drew Brees (2018, Weeks 10-11)
It looks as though the QB woes in Cleveland are finally a thing of the past.
Since Hue Jackson was fired (after Week 8), Baker Mayfield's passer rating is 129.5. Only Drew Brees (142.1) has been better in this span.— Graham Barfield (@GrahamBarfield) November 26, 2018
Over his last two games, Mayfield has been a complete fantasy stud. With seven touchdowns and more than 400 passing yards, without throwing an interception, it's as good as you can hope for from an NFL rookie.
Mayfield can no longer be ignored as he continues to fill up the stat sheet on a weekly basis. The Browns future is finally looking up and so do Baker's fantasy prospects heading into the playoffs. Start him as a low-end QB1 against a tough Houston Texans defense this Sunday, with even more upside moving forward.
