Veteran quarterback Mark Sanchez is signing with the Washington Redskins following the nasty injury to starter Alex Smith.

He will be the backup to Colt McCoy, so in terms of Sanchez's fantasy value, there's nothing to mention here.

What is worth mentioning, however, is the perfect timing of this. The former Jets "Sanchise" quarterback, if he does indeed sign with the Redskins and suit up for Thursday's Thanksgiving game against the Cowboys, his Redskins debut will take place six years to the day after his infamous "butt fumble" against the Patriots.

The Redskins are currently in first place in the NFC East standings, but only have a one-game lead on the Cowboys heading into their showdown. Smith broke his leg in two places during Sunday's loss against the Texans so they needed to bring in someone who is familiar with their offense.

Sanchez fits that mold well.

Sanchez was suspended for the first four games of this season, but is now eligible to play again. He most likely won't be playing, but the butt fumble gif is all we need to remember him by on Thanksgiving.
