Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is having a record-season
This is fun: Patrick Mahomes is third all-time in QB fantasy points through Week 8, but the Chiefs aren't the leaders in fantasy PPG from the QB position, because [Fitz+Jameis]. (h/t @ScottBarrettDFB)— Daniel Kelley (@danieltkelley) October 29, 2018
Even though Mahomes has the third-most fantasy points through Week 8 all-time, Bucs quarterbacks Ryan Fitzpatrick and Jameis Winston have combined to have the most from a team's quarterback position.
At the very least, Mike Evans fantasy owners probably want Ryan Fitzpatrick to remain at QB. Evans has 4 TDs this year -- all from Fitzpatrick. pic.twitter.com/NLQQXpgZlL— PFF Fantasy Football (@PFF_Fantasy) October 29, 2018
The Bucs hoped the former No. 1 overall pick Winston would be more like Mahomes. After all, Winston had thrown for at least 365 yards in two of the four games he started this season. It is, however, the interceptions that were a big part in him being benched during yesterday's 37-34 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals -- Winston has been picked off at least twice in each of his four starts.
Entering Week 4, Ryan Fitzpatrick was fantasy's top-scoring QB. He TD/Turnover ratio is 14/5. Jameis Winston's is 7/11. FF4W has been preaching this for weeks: the Bucs should've never benched Fitz. #FFNow #FantasyFootballAdvice #FantasyFootball #Buccaneers— BJ Rudell (@bjrudell) October 29, 2018
Fitzpatrick, who threw for 194 yards and two touchdowns in relief, has a good chance to be the Bucs starter when they face the Carolina Panthers next week. The Bucs thrived under his guidance in the wake of Winston's three-game suspension to start the season, and it seems like they have more respect for Fitzpatrick's leadership in the huddle.
All in all, it's quite impressive for the Bucs and Chiefs to be clicking in the passing game the way that they are. Look for these numbers to continuing climbing as they both have a plethora of weapons to get the ball to.
