3 NFL Teams on Upset Alert in Week 6

The 2018-19 NFL season is off to a record-breaking start when it comes to underdogs winning games outright and/or covering the spread. With that said, it makes sense to ride that momentum into Week 6.

Here are the three NFL teams that need to check their rear-view mirror on upset alert this weekend.

3. Buffalo Bills at Houston Texans (-10), Sunday, 1:00 p.m. EST

Despite edging out an overtime win over the Dallas Cowboys last week at home, the Texans haven't been anything to write home about – especially with all the Deshaun Watson hype coming into the season. On the other hand, the current consensus seems to have the Bills pegged as one of the worst teams in the league (considering Buffalo has the second-worst odds to both win the Super Bowl and to make the playoffs), but they're still a 2-3 team that crushed the Minnesota Vikings in Minneapolis while facing a similar double-digit spread in Week 3. What does this all translate to? While the Bill may not win, 10 points seems like a pretty big number to cover for the Texans.

2. Los Angeles Chargers at Cleveland Browns (-1), Sunday, 1:00 p.m. EST

The Cleveland Browns as favorites over a team not named the Giants, Jets or Cardinals? Okay, come on now. Doesn't that already sound like a mistake? Considering the Browns have already notched two wins and one tie, with only two losses to show for it, through five games this season, they're already pushing their unofficial quota on success early. Let's just take a step back and hope the Browns regress toward the Browns' standard of success over the past three seasons here. Plus, the Chargers are much better than their record suggests and this is actually a revenge game, of sorts, as the Chargers were the last team the Browns had defeated in Cleveland prior to their 600-plus day losing streak from 2015-18.

1. Carolina Panthers at Washington Redskins (-1), Sunday, 1:00 p.m. EST

Washington certainly got off to a better start than the books were expecting. But after last Monday night's disaster in New Orleans -- a beatdown at the hands of the Saints -- it's hard to see a comparable NFC South team in the Panthers not coming out on top this Sunday too. The Redskins may have one of the best rush defenses in the NFL, but Drew Brees taught us  all that this accolade certainly doesn't carry over to their passing defense. And Carolina's most lethal weapon in Christian McCaffrey is literally a running back who is better used as a receiver. The Panthers are probably the sneakiest 3-1 team in the league right now, thanks to their early Week 4 bye that took them off most early-season hype radars.
