The Minnesota Vikings are coming off another run to the NFL playoffs, but a roster that can sustain that level of success can only be built through competition.

As happens every year, head coach Mike Zimmer and the Minnesota Vikings front office will have some tough decisions to make during training camp. Here are three veterans who could be cut heading into the 2020 NFL season.

1. Ameer Abdullah, RB

Running back Ameer Abdullah found a new home with the Vikings after departing the Detroit Lions. He wasn't used much in the running game last year, only totaling 115 yards, but he did feature in all 16 games as a return man. However, Abdullah will have some competition as the Vikings' return man in fifth-round pick KJ Osborn and they are quite set at running back with Dalvin Cook, Alexander Mattison, and Mike Boone. Abdullah's one-year contract with $137,500 guaranteed makes him a candidate to be cut.

2. Sean Mannion, QB

Sean Mannion appeared in three games as Kirk Cousins' backup last year, including one start in a meaningless Week 17 game. However, Mannion will have some competition in 2020 with Jake Browning and Nate Stanley both now on the roster. Mannion is on a one-year deal and could be cut for just $137,500 in guaranteed money. He'll have to beat out Cousins and Stanley to earn the backup job in camp.

3. Chad Beebe, WR

Chad Beebe made brief appearances for the Vikings in both 2018 and 2019, but the arrival of Justin Jefferson, Tajae Sharp, and KJ Osborn to the team will move him down the depth chart. Beebe was an undrafted free agent and has shown some versatility, but it'll be an uphill battle for him to make the roster now that the Vikings have more options. It's not a huge loss as he has just 109 receiving yards, and Beebe should be on the outside looking in during training camp.
