After four full seasons as the team's starting quarterback, Sean McVay and the Los Angeles Rams seem to be rethinking their future with Jared Goff under center.

The Rams are now two seasons removed from their Super Bowl appearance, and they may need to bring in a veteran who can carry them to the promise land, or who can put pressure on Goff to step up.

Jared Goff Salary

Goff will make $34.6 million in 2021 and carries a dead cap hit of over $65 million, all but guaranteeing he'll be on the team. That doesn't guarantee he'll be the starter, though.

With that in mind, here are three veteran quarterbacks the Rams can sign to replace or at very least challenge Goff.

Veteran Jared Goff Replacements

1. Ryan Fitzpatrick

Ryan Fitzpatrick demonstrated that he still has what it takes to lead an offense in his two-year stint with the Miami Dolphins. It was an unsual season for Fitz in 2020, playing hot potato with rookie Tua Tagovailoa as the Miami Dolphins' starter. Still, even at 38 years old, Fitzpatrick can air the ball out, managing 13 touchdowns in just nine games played last season. Surrounded by Los Angeles' weapons, he could provide a spark to the Rams' passing game in 2021.

2. Jameis Winston

Jameis Winston is likely headed to a new team with the Taysom Hill era in New Orleans expected to begin. Winston would have to compete with Goff for the starting job, but he's got the potential to elevate Los Angeles' offense. He's only one season removed from leading the league in passing yards (5,109) and tossing 30 TDs as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' starter in 2019. If McVay can tap into Winston's talent and cut down his turnovers, he could be deadly with the Rams.

3. Cam Newton

Cam Newton seems out of the door in New England, and he could be a high-risk, high-reward pickup for the Rams. There's the chance that a Newton experiment fails, but he is a former MVP and run-friendly QB who would fit perfectly into the Rams' top rushing attack. Even the threat that a household name like Newton brings should be more than enough motivation for Goff to get his act together.
