It's no question that the Dallas Cowboys need to bolster their defense this offseason and one way they can do that is by taking top defensive prospects in the NFL Draft. However, the Cowboys can likely still draft one of their target players if they trade down into the second half of the first round.

Dallas could benefit from making a move like this and acquiring a few more additional assets for the future. With that being said, here are three players the Cowboys should target if they do move down in the 2021 NFL draft.

1. Jaycee Horn, Cornerback

Jaycee Horn is the exact type of player the Cowboys are looking to draft as he could immediately slot in as a starter on this defense. He proved that at his recent pro day posting a 4.39 40-yard dash time and a 41.5-inch vertical jump. Pairing Horn with starter Trevon Diggs would give Dallas a secondary duo that could dominate for years to come. He can be used all over the field as he played almost every CB position during his time at South Carolina and regularly shadowed opposing No. 1 receivers. Dallas would be smart to draft Horn.

2. Greg Newsome, Cornerback

Another cornerback the Cowboys should be interested in is Greg Newsome out of Northwestern. He has the skill set to become a lockdown corner in the NFL and heads into the draft as an underrated prospect. Newsome shined during his junior season allowing a 0.0 passer rating when targeted on 3rd/4th downs. He regularly stepped up in the Wildcats' biggest games of the season and has some of the best coverage abilities in this class. Simply put, Newsome has the size and speed to compete at the next level and Dallas should take advantage of that.

3. Kwity Paye, Defensive End

If Dallas wanted to make a splash in the draft, they would select defensive end Kwity Paye. The Cowboys are set to lose Aldon Smith to free agency this offseason and Paye has the skills to step in from Day 1. He is strong at the point of the attack and gets off the ball very quickly. Paye has the size to take on NFL offensive lineman, but also the speed to get around the edge. He racked up 8.5 sacks and 16.5 tackles for loss during his final two seasons at Michigan and would make for a welcome addition to this Dallas team.
