3 Most Likely Ryan Fitzpatrick Free Agent Destinations
By Larry Rupp

It has been a crazy season for the Miami Dolphins, and that includes constant change at the starting quarterback position. In the end, Ryan Fitzpatrick started 7 games this season and completed 183 of 267 passes for 2,091 yards and 13 touchdowns. He now heads into the offseason as a free agent.
Fitzpatrick is due to see interest from a number of NFL teams in search of finding their starting quarterback for next year. With that in mind, here are the three most likely free agent destinations for Ryan Fitzpatrick.
1. Washington Football Team
The Washington Football Team is slated to play in the NFL playoffs this weekend, but it remains unclear on who their quarterback will be next season. Starter Alex Smith hasn't played all that well, tossing just 5 touchdowns in 7 games started and only throwing for over 300 yards in one of those games. Signing a pass-first quarterback like Fitzpatrick could allow Washington to change the dynamic of their offense. At the very least, it would give Smith some competition in training camp and provide depth at the most important position on the roster. However, Fitzpatrick may be looking to sign with a team where he is no doubt the starter.
2. San Francisco 49ers
One team that could be in search of a new starting quarterback this offseason is the San Francisco 49ers. It is rumored that head coach Kyle Shanahan will move on from starter Jimmy Garoppolo if a better option becomes available. Well, signing Fitzpatrick certainly seems like the opportunity Shanahan is looking for. The 49ers started three different quarterbacks this season and could see Fitzpatrick's reputation of staying healthy as a major upgrade. For a team that is constantly carried by their defense, bringing in someone like Fitzpatrick could allow them to become a team to be feared on both sides of the football.
3. New England Patriots
Why not sign with the only team Fitzpatrick hasn't played for in the AFC East? The New England Patriots struggled this season with veteran Cam Newton running the offense. Signing Fitzpatrick could benefit the team in multiple ways. He has always been known to air it out and the Patriots suffered in that department this season, averaging just 180.6 passing yards per game (third-fewest in the NFL). Plus, the Patriots it could benefit Jarrett Stidham or possibly a 2021 draftee to develop behind someone who has been in the league for such a long time like Fitz. No one ever knows what Bill Belichick has up his sleeve, so maybe he takes a chance on Fitzpatrick this offseason.
