The Pittsburgh Steelers have struggled to find success in recent seasons. Now that franchise quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has retired, the team is expected to take a step back in the 2023 NFL season. If Pittsburgh does struggle as some predict, they may end up with a top-10 draft pick.

The 2023 NFL Draft might be 10 months away, but that hasn't stopped ESPN from releasing an early mock draft. Analyst Matt Miller has the Steelers drafting sixth overall on the list, drafting a potential No. 1 cornerback in Georgia's Kelee Ringo.

The Steelers defense already includes studs like 2021 NFL Defensive Player of the Year T.J. Watt and two-time first-team All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, but it wouldn't hurt to add someone of Ringo's talents. He's the type of player that teams love to build defenses around.

Ringo looked terrific in his freshman season with the Bulldogs. He recorded 34 total tackles, a sack and a pair of interceptions — one of which was returned for a touchdown. The 20-year-old Tacoma, WA native also broke up eight passes, ranking ninth-best in the SEC.

Things can change over the next 10 months, but Ringo is someone that Miller sees as having CB1 potential on an NFL defense. He's already an incredible playmaker at the collegiate level, but he can take things to new heights with the correct professional coaching.

Building a defense around the likes of Ringo, Watt, Fitzpatrick and others has the potential to be terrifying down the line. Only time will tell if the Steelers are in a position to pull it off in 2023.

The 2023 NFL Draft begins on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Union Station in Kansas City, MO.
